The 10/22 is an easy-to-use mini-gun and I have been using it for over 30 years, but this is my first experience with their Takedown model. And you know what? I really like it.

Ruger 10/22 Takedown Rifle
I am an adult, but some things still dazzle me, and this gun is a gun. Yes, shotguns are cooler, but compound guns are cooler. And these stocks are really good.
The balance makes it a pleasure to hold the pistol together.
Instead of the "Uncle Mike" type of crane I used to see on my hunting rifle, this one was designed for a more strategic approach. Keys like this can be used when the insert (not included) is placed in the stock hole.

The Magpul X-22 Backpacker stock takes full advantage of the 10/22 retraction, offering a range of functions in addition to allowing you to store two essential parts of the rifle.
Extension the barrel into the black rubber when you put both parts of the gun together.
Reinstalling a container is as easy as removing it to reassemble the gun. The accessories are well-fitted and well-textured; Not too hard but still easy to hold.
To remove the baffle and front, squeeze the buttons on either side to remove it from the air base, then rotate it out of the air base.

There is even a water tank in the gun holder. Perhaps the biggest drawback of the stock is the storage space (they call it the “grip core”), which is unsafe when opened. I can not say that I really have a heart, but people have shown that they can and will lose any part of the gun that is not connected in any way.
On the other hand, I do not believe that anyone will accidentally lose this hat because it fell. The orange color of the o-ring ensures a good seal.
Press the release button and you can pull the cover off (Magpul calls it the "grip core"). It has a sealed ring for water resistance.
I got this gun the day before I went hunting and it was a last minute thing. When I got home, I started looking at stocks, grabbing everything. At the time, I did not know anything about this model.

When you see a stock key on your gun, you naturally open it to see what's inside. So I did, hoping to find some sort of empty storage space.
There is a removable divider (there is space to keep it from getting lost) so you can keep a magazine and a gun case if you want.
Yes, I must say this is a good stock for this gun. I also like Flat Dark Earth (FDE). What I dislike most is that I have to push my face into my cheek to make it work. Can use a slight drop.
If you have a 10/22 cancellation and you do not have these shares then that is a problem. But you can buy one. It will work with sports bikes and cows and is currently listed on the Magpul website for $ 109.95 in black, gray and FDE.
Takedown Backpacker Review At Appleseed
When it comes time to break your 10/22 retreat, it’s a cake. Slide the lever forward and, using the bolts slightly or completely, rotate the barrel 1/4 clockwise (as seen from behind the gun). Then pull the container out of the receiver. Ready!
When connecting the first cylinder to the receiver, adjust the shut-off button to remove the "slope" between the tank and the receiver. I failed to do this before the first shot and there was some play between the tank and the receiver, but it fired every time and was very accurate. It tightened well when I actually followed the regulations.
The Ruger Takedown system is awesome and I think it is the fastest and easiest uninstall system I have ever used.
I like the view. This is not surprising as I'd a longtime Williams fan, but I have some reservations about the way the rear view hangs from the back. This is not much of a problem when the gun is assembled because it is close to the receiver, but when it is loaded for transport it will be very easy to capture the background image on something. Of course, most external elements will always be in your view when stacking, so you need to be careful.
Giving The Ruger 10/22 Takedown A Survival Makeover
As usual for the 10/22, the front visibility is combined with the main steel stock. The finish is as expected from Ruger: usable but a bit rough. The included thread protection device works well when you are not using a blocking device.
The gun was zero in the factory, but the visibility was so low that I could hardly pick my cheek. Low enough buttocks to see the landscape properly. So it seems the comb of this material is small.
The crown is deeply fitted to protect the gun, and the crown of the removable gun is not damaged by the cleaning rod.
Painted alloy receivers are drilled and pressed to connect optically or visually. I have a vision of Williams inserted through two rear holes on my old Walnut 10/22.
Ruger 10/22 Take Down Semi Auto Rifle 22lr
The Ruger includes a scope base and four screws. A ring with a weaving style scope or a narrow tail drop magnifier, often used on a lighting scope, would be ideal for the base.
If you are scaling up, you may want to replace the cheek pads, or so-called rear bumper covers, with this device.
Extra cheek lift; It replaces the standard height bearing cap at the rear if you choose to install the scope.
I really like this gun and almost do not want to because I may have to buy it instead of sending it back.
Best Ruger 10/22 Takedown Rifle Modifications
By the way, I am not a fan of additional magazine releases. It seems to me to delete 10/22 magazine the old-fashioned way. Just grab the magazine with your thumb and forefinger, push the clip with your thumb and pull it out of the gun.
With this extra release, there is no way you can grab this magazine to download it, so I will have to re-train myself to be able to use it well.
I like the way it holds, I like the way it fits, and I like the way it takes pictures. The trigger grip is not as bad as it could be at 5 pounds, I prefer the groove surface that Ruger now uses on these tips.
This pistol is fun, practical and good looking. All four magazines worked perfectly and the gun fired the wrong shot at me only once. A cheap bullet brought me a tube. I’m just glad they exploded. Some old .22 bullets are not reliable.
Brownells 10/22 Takedown Rifle Project Update 3
If I have to complain about something, it could be that the cheeks are too high for easy purposes and the extended magazine release will make some habit. Plus, it's a beautiful portable popper that you can pack in your backpack and carry around with lots of magazines in stock.
I do not always fall in love with the weapon I try, but in this case there is some love. You think they will take 1977. Walnut stock 10/22? I do not hear
