Registration expires three years after your aircraft was last registered or renewed. Five months before your registration expires, you must set a date to apply for your registration renewal. This will allow new certificates of registration to be delivered before the old ones are invalid and provide the FAA with a margin of safety to correct potential errors in the application.
The FAA will send you a renewal notice notifying you of an expiring registration 6 months prior to the expiration date of the registration. If you do not renew your application on time, the FAA will send you a second notice.
